Admission & Prerequisites for All Certificates

Both certification programs require nine hours of prerequisite training before participants move on to the specialized certificate courses. The prerequisite training will provide a foundation of knowledge to prepare for the certificate courses. After completing prerequisite coursework, participants in the child welfare services track will take a total of 15 certificate courses and participants in the child protection services track will take a total of 18 courses.

ADMISSION ELIGIBILITY

Applicants must provide proof of an associate’s and/or bachelor’s degree and a letter of interest. The letter of interest should be no longer than three pages double-spaced and should demonstrate:
  • An applicant’s interest in completing the certificate courses
  • Experience in child welfare, when applicable
  • Lived experience with child welfare, when applicable
  • Future career goals

REQUIREMENTS

Pre-training survey – All individuals admitted to the program will be asked to complete a 20-minute pre-training survey prior to taking the prerequisite courses.
Post-certificate survey – All individuals admitted to the program will be asked to complete a 20-minute post-training survey after completing all courses.
Prerequisite Coursework – All individuals admitted to the program will complete prerequisite coursework before beginning courses specific to the track they qualify to complete.
